you have seen many scientists tried to arrange elements earlier on the basis of atomic mass , but they all have some limitations, even mendeleev periodic table could not explained the position of isotopes ,etc..as he arranged elements on the basis of atomic mass
so moseley, proposed that atomic number is more fundamental property of elements in periodic classification.
now on this property all the limitations are removed , also this arrange shows perfect periodicity. .

Answer:
Explanation:
(i) The atomic number of an element indicates the
number of protons in the nucleus or the number
of electrons in the atom.
(ii) All the atoms of an element have the same atomic
number.
(iii) The number of electrons present in the outermost
shell of an atom is responsible for the formation
of compounds either by sharing, accepting or
donating electrons.
(iv) The chemical properties of an element are decided
by its atomic numbers. Hence, atomic number is a
more fundamental property of an element than its
atomic mass.
