Being a soldier, is a matter of life and death and my problems have no bound. I sometimes feel very proud of being a soldier. I sometimes feel that there is no other way better than this to serve to the nation and it's citizens.
When I'm on a mission, I don't specially need to specify what hardships I face. I sometimes get stuck in the cold ice storm or stay at places where I don't even get some food or water. At many times I get exhausted, but when I'll be so then the people of my country flash in my mind. Waking me up to go and get back on my mission. There are many nights where I slept with an empty stomach, starving for days together. There's no day on which I haven't thought about my family. The most challenging this is watching a friend of mine dying and me standing helplessly.
Being a soldier isn't easy, indeed. It needs a lot of courage and sacrifice.

Hi, I am a soldier. My name is Manpreet Singh.I belong to the Jhajjar village of Haryana. My father and grandfather both were in the army.Their brave deeds inspired me to join army.

My life is very tough and full of discipline. I have to be mentally and physically alert.I have to brave the different difficulties by nature day and night to fight continuously for my beloved nation.I have had to remain away from my family for many days, sometimes even months.

During the Kargil war in 1999, the situations became even more tough for us because of
extreme cold in the mountainous areas of Kashmir. We had very limited number of limited bomb loads. It was so difficult but still we fought. We lost several of my brave friends but their sacrifice paid off as we won the war and recaptured all our lost areas.

I lost one of my hands in the war but nevertheless I am happy that I could do something to save my country and its civilians.Whenever I reminisce my days as a soldier,I feel proud since people could sleep easily thinking that we at the border were there to protect them.
                           Jai Hind!
