Cotton is a plant that needs a long frost-free period, a lot of heat and plenty of sunshine. It prefers warm and humid climate. Cotton seeds will have a small germination rate, if the soil temperature is below 60°F (15°C). During active growth, the ideal air temperature is 70 to 100°F (21-37°C).

These are the steps required for growing of Cotton or Cotton plant..

a) Suitable-Cotton plant is cultivated in black soil because because black soil has the highest water retaining capacity.

b) Temperature-The cotton plant requires warm climate and moderate temperature 21 degree centigrade to 27 degree centigrade.

c) Rainfall-It also requires an adequate rainfall i.e. 50 cm to 80 cm.
