LAW OF OCTAVES: Newland observed that every 8th element has properties similar to the first element just as in the octave of music(8th note resembles 1st one). He arranged them in increasing order of ATOMIC MASSES. It means that F and Cl have similar properties and the difference between them is 7.

Answer:

In the year 1866 Newland srranged the element knoun at that time in increasing order of their atomic masses. It started with the lightest elements hydrogen and endedup with thorium. He found that every eighth element had properties similar to those of first.Ex,sodium is eighth element from lithium and both has similiar properties.
