John is a former UK board member and chief operating officer of Pricewaterhouse Coopers UK (PwC). He retired in 2015 following a 40 year career with PwC where he held a series of leading roles as a senior partner.

During his time with PwC John worked on international projects in over 20 countries, across Southeast Asia, the US and continental Europe and in the UK he established and chaired the public sector finance board, led the education advisory business, and latterly built its fast-growing cyber security advisory business.

On retiring from PwC, John has acted as an adviser to the global law firm, Norton Rose Fulbright, which operates in more than 50 countries across the globe. He was their global chief operating officer from December 2016 until 31 March 2018.

Since late 2003 he has chaired MacIntyre, a sector-leading national charity providing learning, support, education and care to over 1,100 children, young people and adults with learning disabilities, complex needs and autism, and their families across England and Wales.

John has authored a series of publications on the role of the finance function in the public sector and he was appointed in 2010 to a panel of independent experts to advise HM Treasury on instituting the UK government’s financial management strategy.

He is a companion of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
