Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi was born on 2 October 1869 in Porbandar in Gujarat. His father's name was Karamchand Gandhi and his mother's name was Putlibai Gandhi. He is known as the father of the nation. He was the leader of The Independence movement. He is well known for his teachings and his non violence movements for setting India free. He died on 30 January 1948, aged 78.
