You get a blood type through a set of genes, one from your mom and the other from your dad. A, B, AB or O generally. And while two people can have the same blood type, if you find B blood you aren't going to be having any A blood types on your suspect list. In addition to this,if none of the suspects are directly related by blood with the victim, blood may also have traces of DNA if the blood is not too old and if on further forensics and testing the blood, you may take blood samples from each of your suspects, match them and only one blood sample will come out as matching as no two DNA threads can ever be same if taken from two different people who are not in direct blood relation.
