Why do we celebrate Mother's Day?

Mother's Day is a day for rememberence of the great women who loved us even before we came to earth, even before she had seen us, but still love you a lot more than anyone apart from any of your flaws. A mother is an epitum of self sacrifice and care. Isn't it necessary to have atleast a day for her? Yes. It is.

What is the story behind it?

Currently, we do celebrate Mother's day by giving gifts and flowers. But, earlier it was actually the way for women to mourn soldiers and pursue peace. The today's mother's day was celebrated first in the U.S, during the civil war, a women called Anne Reeves helped to start Mother's day clubs in Virginia. The aim for doing so was to minimize the infant mortality rate by awaring mothers on how to take care of her child.

During the same time, a women called Julia ward organised a mother's peace day. So, these were the origins of the modern Mother's day!

Why do we celebrate Mother's day on may 13 only?

2017 Mother's day is on 13 May because Mother's Day is celebrated on every second holiday of May. Today is the second holiday, that is, second Sunday of May.
