While researching I found that the book of "Refugee, by Alan Gratz" is about sailing out to hopefully find safety out of major dangers, such as drowning and bombing. The theme in Refugee is " empathy." In the given text, I might have had an idea on what the given passage is telling me on what is going on, from it saying "Cuban doctor, ship’s, medical inspection, and C-deck to leave the ship" all tell me that Alan is travelling, and finding a better place to live, out of the minor, and major dangers from his previous areas of life.
