The current transaction affects two accounts.... Furniture account, Babu account ...... Furniture is an Asset and hence comes under Real account...Babu is a creditor and hence comes under Personal account...

The Three golden rules of accounting are

Real account - Debit what comes in credit, what goes out

Personal account-Debit the receiver credit the giver

Nominal account - Debit all expenses and losses, credit all incomes and gains

As Per above rules.. furniture being an Asset/ real account which is incoming/increasing in value should be Debited To that extent...

Babu being a creditor/personal account who is at the giving end.. should be credited...

So the Journal Entry will be -

Furniture a/c Dr xxxx

To Babu a/c

(Being furniture bought from babu)
