Inital velocity,u=30ms-1
Final velocity,v=0ms-1(car comes to rest after
applying brakes)
retardation=6ms-2
time taken=?

acelaration=
a = v \frac{v - u}{?t}
6 =   \frac{0 - 30}{t}
6 =  \frac{ - 30}{t}
By cross multiply we get,
t =  \frac{30}{6}

t = 5 seconds
Time taken by the car to stop=5 seconds
