Answer :-

L = 30 cm

B = 23 cm

Given:-

Area of rectangle = 690 cm².

Breadth is 7 cm less than it's length.

To find :-

The length and breadth.

Solution :-

Let the length be L and breadth be B.

A/Q

B = L - 7 __________eq. 1

Area of rectangle = L × B = 690 cm²_________eq.2

Put the value of B in equation 2.

We get,

\implies 690 = l × ( l - 7 )

\implies 690 = l^2 - 7l

Now apply middle splitting term,

\implies  l^2 -7l -690 = 0

\implies  l^2 -30l + 23l -690 =0

\implies  l ( l - 30 ) +23 (l - 30 ) = 0

\implies  ( l + 23 ) (l - 30 ) = 0

 (l +23 ) = 0 \\ ( l -30 ) = 0

 l = -23 cm\\ l = 30cm

length cannot be in negative.

hence l = 30 cm

then breadth = 30 -7 = 23 cm
