Briefly describe the mechanism of urine formation.
Answers
1) Glomerular filteration, 2) Reabsrption, 3) Secretion
Glomerular filteration occurs in malphgian corpuscle formed together by glomerular and its surrounding Bhowman's capsule.Reabsoption and secretion occurs in highly coiled renal tubule.
The mechanism of urine formation takes place in following steps.
1 Ultrafiltration: All of the blood components are filtered by the kidneys of the human body. The blood cells and plasma protein remains untouched. The blood cells and plasma membrane constitutes of are urea, glucose, potassium, etc.
2 Selective Reabsorption: The important components of the body are reabsorbed back into the blood vessels. Example: glucose, sodium, water.etc
3 Secretion: The movement of components such as urea, water, glucose from the blood into nephrons is called secretion. The potassium and hydrogen ions are absorbed by the DCT (distilled convoluted tubule) and other toxins by PCT (proximal convoluted tubule).
4 Then, the anti diuretic hormone(ADH) regulates the reabsorption process before the filtrate comes out of kidney.
5 The urine formed is collected in the urinary bladder and excreted out of the body.
