First the chlorophyll absorbs photons and get activated. Then it splits the water molecules:
2H2O --------> 4H+ + 4e- + O2
Hydrogen ions, electrons and oxygen are formed.
The oxygen is given out to the atmosphere.
The electrons are used to convert Adenosine Diphosphate (ADP) to Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) by the process Photophosphorylation. Energy gets stored in ATP molecules.
The hydrogen ions get added to Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide Phosphate (NADP) to convert it into NADPH.
