Bring out the irony in the chapter 'The Dear Departed'.

Grandfather, the departed in this play, was not dear to his daughters and son-in-laws. Though they did not anxiously wait for his death, they actually did not regret even his sudden passing away.

this chapter is all about trust , faith and cheat .
in the chapter 'Abel Merryweather' who is the main person of the play found to be cheat by his own daughters at Jerold age .

he is a great man who cares for his daughters but at last when he was trying to find love in his daughter's heart he found null rather than a cheat . he was thinking that he could see the love of his daughters towards him by acting a small play of death but his daughters are too disappointing character if his life. they just want money and money from their Father.
