Let's assume the required number as x

According to Question,

(- 8)⁻¹ × x = (- 6)⁻¹

⇒ ( 1 / - 8 ) × x = ( 1 / - 6)

⇒ x = ( 1 / - 6 ) × ( - 8 / 1 )

⇒ x = ( 1 / - 3 ) × ( - 4 / 1 )

⇒ x = ( - 4 / - 3 )

⇒ x = 4 / 3

As, the required number is x

Hence, the required number is ( 4 / 3 )

Some things to know -

(- 8)⁻¹ = ( 1 / - 8)¹ and Vice Versa
