Answer: The heat of atomization of furan is found to be 4051KJ/mol.

Given: Energy of reactant (∆Hf= -62 KJ/mol) , heat of atomization of C,H,O are 717,218,249 KJ/mol.

To find - Heat of atomization of furan.

Explaination:

We know that, furan have formula C4H4o , Now energy of reactant molecules can be calculated as,

∆H°react.= 4× ∆atm.C +4× ∆atmH + 1×∆atmO.

∆H°react.= 4×717+4×218+1×249

∆H°react.= 3989Kj/mol.

Heat of atomization of furan = Heat energy of reactant - heat energy of product

= ∆H°react. - (∆H°product)

= 3989-(-62)

= 4051 KJ/mol.

Heat of atomization (∆aH°)

The change in enthalpy that occurs when one mole of bonds is completely broken to produce atoms in the gas phase is known as the enthalpy of atomization.
