Answer:

Median of the data = 35.625

Explanation:

Wages (Rs.)              No. of Employees             < CF

0 - 10                                     6                                6

10 - 20                                   9                              15

20 - 30                                 10                              25

30 - 40                                 16                              41            Median Class

40 - 50                                 12                              53

50 - 60                                   8                             61

60 - 70                                    7                            68

Here, the total frequency = 68

Median class is that class in which the cumulative frequency is just greater than    \frac{N}{2}, where N is the total frequency

\frac{N}{2} = 34

So, the median class is  30 - 40 with  frequency 16.

Median  = L + h(\frac{(\frac{N}{2} -cf)}{f}), where

L = Lower limit of the median class

h= width of the median class

N =  Total frequency

cf = cumulative frequency of the class preceding the median class

f= the frequency of the median class

Here, L = 30

h = 10

N = 68

cf = 25

f = 16

Substituting the values,

Median of the data =  30 + 10(\frac{(\frac{68}{2} -25)}{16})

= 30 + 10(\frac{9}{16})

= 30 + 5.625

= 35.625

Hence, Median of the data = 35.625
