Gravitational force is the attractive force between 2 objects or bodies having mass

This force is given by the equation

F = Gm₁m₂/r²

where,

m₁ and m₂ are the masses of the body

G is the universal gravitational constant

r is the distance between the 2 masses

Examples of gravitational forces are:

  1. Force that hold the moon towards the earth
  2. Force which makes a car to move downhill on a slope even without accelerating
  3. Force which makes a ball to fall downwards when dropped

The gravitational force is between two bodies of masses m1 and m2 separated by a distance r is given by

SI unit of gravitational force is Newton.
