Can anyone tell me difference between concave and convex lens​

  • A concave lens is a diverging lens while convex lens is a converging lens
  • A concave lens has negative power and focal length while a convex lens has both these values positive
  • A concave lens has one or both surface bent inward while a convex lens has one or both surfaces bent outward (see diagram)
  • In a concave lens, it is the thinnest and centre and thickest at edges whereas in a convex lens, it is thickest at centre and thinnest at the edges. (see diagram)
  • Concave lenses always form virtual image whereas convex lens may form either real or virtual image
