Hey !!!

y -1/y =9 -------1)

y² + 1/y² = ?

we know that
•(x - y )² = x² + y² - 2xy

(similarly } ,

(y + 1/y )² = y² +1/y² - 2×y×1/y

9² + 2 = y² + 1/y² {Rearranging term ]

81 + 2 = y² + 1/y²

83 = y² + 1/y²

________________

y⁴ + 1/y⁴

similarly like above ✒

=> (y²)² + (1/y²)² = (y²+ 1/y²)²- 2y²×1/y²

=> y⁴ + 1/y⁴ = 83² - 2

=> 83²-2 = y⁴ + 1/y⁴

=> 6887 = y⁴+ 1/y⁴

=

Howdy!!

your answer is -----

Given,
y - \frac{1}{y} = 9

now,
 {y}^{2} + \frac{1}{ {y}^{2} } = {(y - \frac{1}{y} )}^{2} + 2 \\ = {9}^{2} + 2 = 81 + 2 \\ = 83

now,
 {y}^{4} + \frac{1}{ {y}^{4} } = {( {y}^{2} + \frac{1}{ {y}^{2} } )}^{2} - 2 \\ = {83}^{2} - 2 = 6889 - 2 = 6887
