No NaCl cannot form covalent bond because covalent bonds are formed by sharing electrons but in NaCl, the atoms gain or loss electron. it forms an ionic bond because this type of bond is usually formed between a metal and a non metal here sodium it is a metal and chlorine is a non metal. it also gain or loss its electron instead of sharing them. so NaCl forms an ionic bond.

hope it helps you
