George Ansell is a retired English school teacher, who has been writing poetry ever since his retirement.

In 'Grandad', he writes about his grandfather, who believes in doing what he feels like doing. During their outings to nearby spots, they find small 'treasures' like coins and marbles. Little George also learns about bugs, flowers, trees, werewolves and vampires from his grandfather.

The grandfather does not mind what others say or think about him - his odd way of dressing, or the strange smelling perfume he uses. Though others may think he is going slightly mad, he firmly believes that, it is what they think that they see, and not the actual facts of life.
