Can we get hydrogen and oxygen by setting
up an arrangement for passing current
through distilled water? Why? 2 points​

when DC current is pass than they dissociate into ions and hydrogen get + while oxygen get - charge and opposite attention of these changes formed gase

No, we don't get hydrogen and oxygen by setting up an arrangement for passing current through distilled water.

Because -

• The distilled water is a very pure form of water which is a very bad conductor of electricity. And in this state water is not suitable for electrolysis.

• In this case,we have to add some amount of electrolytic substance in the distilled water to make the water suitable for electrolysis. But in this process we will lose the distilled property of the water.
