Daliy requirement of carbohydrate for an adult is about 500 g. carbohydrate digestion start in mouth with the help of chewing and salivary amylase in combination of mechanical and chemical action. ... Because amylase enzyme does not work in stomach due to acidic conditions. Thats why stomach cannot digest carbohydrate.
