Hello Mate!
So, carbon (C) and oxygen (O) combine at ratio of 3:8. So, if 40 g of oxygen is given then,
Taking carbon weight as X
3:8 = X:40
3/8 = X/40
3/8 × 40 g = X
3 × 5 g = X
15 g = X
Hence, 15 g of oxygen will react with 40 g of oxygen completely to form Y gas.
