in an hipotonic solution the rbc will gain water through the process of osmosis. the water will enter and leave the cell but more water enters than it leaves so it is more likely to swell

The RBC’s are animal cells and thus do not contain cell wall as in animal cells . So , when placed in hypotonic solution an RBC , unlike plant cell will burst
