Let the breadth of rectangular field be x

and length= 2x-8

Perimeter of the rectangle = 2 (l+b)

Perimeter of the rectangular field = 56 meters ...(given)

2 (l+b)=56

2 (2x-8+x)=56

2(3x-8)=56

3x-8=56/2

3x-8=28

3x=28+8

3x=36

x=36/3

x=12

Breadth of the rectangular field =12m

Length of rectangular field =2x-8=2×12-8=24-8=16m

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the length be l and the breadth be b,

Perimeter of the rectangular feild =

2(l +b) \\ 56 = 2{(2b) + b} \\ 56 = 4b + 2b \\ 56 = 6b \\  \frac{56}{6}   = b \\

As we have found the breadth we have to find the length,

l = 2b \\ l = 2( \frac{56}{6} ) \\ l  =  \frac{56}{3}
