(b) They (the cave paintings) were found in Bhimbetka rock shelters in lndia, Lascaux in France, Cave of Altamira in Spain, Escoural Cave in Portugal, Creswell Crags Museum & Prehistoric Gorge in England, Fumane Cave in ltaly, Coliboaia Cave in Romania, Sirgenstein Cave in Germany, Astuvansalmi rock paintings in Russia, and Maros-Pangkep in lndonesia. The total number of known decorated sites is about 400. Most cave art consists of paintings made with either red or black pigment.
