                                  Character Higher Than Intellect

Billy Graham has written exceedingly wise words on character: ‘When wealth is lost, nothing is lost; when health is lost, something is lost; when character is lost, all is lost.’ Character is everything. Character is the foundation of life without which the edifice of a happy, healthy, and wealthy life can be erected.

Intellect without character is meaningless and unethical; character is like a rudder, and the intellect is like a force or energy. If the energy is misguided, the ship of life will surely wreck. All the great books, novels, plays, etc. teach us that people who have high intellect but low character are villains and they are bound to fail.

A man of character is the hope and light of life. Character means having developed all the divine and moral values in one’s personality and practicing them in one’s dealings with the people around. Character means being dedicated to the higher ideals of life. There have been many role-models of high character in the history of mankind. Jesus Christ, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi are a few names that are fit to be called exemplary men and women who possessed great character. They dedicated their lives to bring people more enlightenment, betterment, freedom, liberty, social equality, and justice.

A man of immaculate character is admired by everyone. All success follows such men and women who develop agreeable character. So, each and every human should endeavour to develop a great character.
