1) They are formed by mutual sharing of electrons between two atom. They consists of molecules.

2) These are formed between non- metals.
3) These compounds may be solid , liquid and gaseous in nature.

4) Due to weak intermolecular force of attraction covalent compounds have low melting point.

5) Covalent compounds being non polar are generally insoluable in polar solvents like water but soluable in polar solvents like alcohol, benzene

. 6) Covalent compounds do not have ions so they are bad conductor of electricity.

Hlw frnd,

PROPERTIES OF COVALENT COMPOUNDS

PROPERTIES OF COVALENT COMPOUNDS

1)Covalent compounds are in the form of stable molecules .

2)Covalent molecules are held 2gether by weak inter molecular force of attraction.

3)Covalent compounds are either gases or liquids. Some covalent molecules are solids.
NH3 , CO2(gas)
H2O ,CCl4(liquid)
Iodine (solid)

4) They are volatile.

5)They have low melting points and boiling points.

6) They are soluble in the organic compounds.

7) Non-polar covalent compounds do not conduct electricity.

8)Polar covalent compounds conduct small amount of electricity.
