Given:

Charges of 10 uC each are placed at the corners of an equilateral triangle of side 5 cm.

To find:

The force on each charge is?

Solution:

From given, we have,

Charges of 10 uC each are placed at the corners of an equilateral triangle of side 5 cm.

The equation of force is given by,

Fnet = √[F1² + F2² + 2F1F2 cos θ]

⇒ Fnet = √3 F

F = ( 10 × 10^{-6} × 10 × 10^{-6} ) /4π∈₀ (5 × 10^{-2})²

= (9 × 10^{9} × 100 × 10^{-12}) / (25 × 10^{-4})

= 36 N

∴ The force on each charge is 36 N
