Concept

The full form of HCF is the greatest common divisor. The HCF of two numbers is the biggest factor that allows you to divide the two numbers evenly. HCF can be evaluated for two or more  numbers. This is the greatest common divisor of two or more numbers that can  divide the specified number evenly or completely.

Coprime numbers are pairs of numbers that  have no common divisor other than 1.

Given

We have given a pair of number 50 and 20 .

Find

We are asked to find that the given numbers are coprime or not .

Solution

Finding the prime numbers that multiply together to make that number.

50 = 2\times 5^2

50 is not a prime number,  it is a composite one.

20 = 2^2\times 5

20 is not a prime number, it is a composite one.

Multiply all the common prime factors of the two numbers by the smallest exponent (power) to get the HCF.

HCF\ of\ (50 ,20) = 2\times 5 = 10

As they have commo factor 10 they can not be prime numbers.

Therefore, the given pair of number are not co prime.
