This poem is composed by William Shakespeare This poem is a strong appeal of mercy. It is a divine quality which is spontaneous. It cannot be forced. It works like balm and gently soothes the disturbed mind like the drizzling rain in summers after the scorching heat. It is a quality of God Himself and the one who possesses it, is respected , loved and worshipped more than the one who has all the glamours of earthly power like crown and sceptre. It blesses both the giver and the receiver. The earthy power becomes Godlike when mercy is mixed with justice.
