      Living organisms should have unique characteristics. They are:

  • All living organisms wil grow
  • Reproduction
  • Metabolism
  • Consciousness
  • Sensing the atmosphere
  • Ability to self-replicate
  • Self-organise

Biological is the study of the evolution of the living organisms in the world.

Diversity in the Living World

   Biodiversity is the total number of known species that exists on the earth.

 Nomenclature is the process of standardising the naming convention all over the world in order to have no confusion with the local names.Naming process has to be defined based on the agreed principles.

 Each name should have two components. They are:

  • Generic name
  • Specific epithet

Naming with these two components known as Binomial nomenclature. Rules are given below:

  • Written in Italics or underlined.
  • First part of the name is generic one and the second is the specific epithet.
  • Generic name should start with upper case and the specific name begins with the lower case.
