Answer:
Types of Water Resources:
- salt water resources
- Groundwater Resources
- Surface Water Resources
The two main causes of Depletion of Water Table are Deforestation and Over-pumping of groundwater.
Deforestation
Deforestation(Read more in detail) means to clear the forest land by cutting the trees and shrubs and converting it into a commercial or a residential land. It has an adverse effect on the water table. Forests transport large quantities of water into the atmosphere via plant transpiration. As the deforestation occurs, there is no rain in that area, flowing away as river water and causing permanent drying.
Over-pumping of groundwater
Groundwater is water which seeps into the ground and gets collected. This groundwater can be obtained by drilling or digging wells or by pumping. Over-pumping of groundwater reduces the level of groundwater level. Excessive pumping in coastal areas can cause saltwater to move inland and upward, resulting in saltwater contamination of the water supply.
Some ways to save water:
1.Use a broom instead of a hose to sweep sidewalks and driveways.
2. Install a low-flow showerhead.
3. When washing the car, use a hose with an on/ off nozzle or use buckets of rinse water.
4. Turn off the water when it is not in use. Don’t leave it running when brushing teeth. Turn off the water between soaps and rinses when washing hands.
5. Water lawns in the mornings or evenings when water will not evaporate as quickly. Make sure the water lands on vegetation and not on streets or sidewalks. If possible, save rainwater for watering lawns.
6. Run the dishwasher or washing machine only with a full load.
7. If you need to run water before it becomes hot, store the cool running water in a bottle for use in rinsing dishes, and washing vegetables and hands.
8. Keep a bottle of cold drinking water in the refrigerator instead of running water until it becomes cool.
9. When washing dishes by hand, use a sink full of rinse water rather than letting the water run.
10. Limit shower time to 5 minutes or less.
11. Fix leaks!
12. Take showers instead of baths.
