Northern plain has been fled by the interplay of the three main river system- the Ganga, the indus and the Brahmaputra. This plain has been formed out of alluvial soil. The deposition of alluvium in a vast basin lying at the foothills of Himalayas over a million years ago ha formed this fertile land

Answer:

On the basis of location, Northern plains can be classified into three.

1] Indus and its tributaries [ Jalam, Sutlej, Chenag, Beas and Revi ] together form the Punjab plains.

2] River Ganga and its tributaries [ Gomati, Gandak, Yamuna.........] forms the Ganga plains.

3] River Brahmaputra and its tributaries together form the Brahmaputra plains.
