Explanation:
- Based on availability they can be classified in to three,
-Natural polymer
They are the one which occurs in nature. eg:natural rubber
-Synthetic polymer
They are made chemically by man
eg: polythene,pvc...
-Semi synthetic runner
They are actually natural, but developed by man
eg: vulcanized rubber
- Based on intermolecular forces, they can be classified in to four types,
-Elastomers
They are the one with very weak intermolecular attraction.
eg: Natural rubber
-Fibres
They have the strongest intermolecular attraction.
eg: polyester,rayon,nylon...
-Thermoplastic polymer
Their intermolecular attraction is in between fibres and elastomers.i.e,medium. they can be remolded into desired shape by applying heat.
eg:polythene,pvc..
-Thermosetting polymer
Their intermolecular attraction also lies in between fibres and elastomers.they can be remoulded into desired shape unlike thermoplastic polymer once they are made.
eg: Bakelite.
hope it helps you... thank you...!!
