Clean and green Mumbai is a long-cherished dream of most of the Mumbaikars but none of us have a clue when this dream will turn into a reality as pollution is increasing and greenery is dwindling with every passing day. However, city based NGO - ‘I Love Mumbai’ is one amongst the few that is persistently putting in conscious efforts to beautify Mumbai by planting saplings and launching cleanliness drives.
Teach cleanliness at school itself. Allow kids to clean and decorate their classrooms. Tell them to wash their tiffin boxes instead of taking the soiled boxes to home.
As service tax/CESS is added to each and everything you buy, instead of Swachh Bharath CESS paid by tax payers, authorities should fine people who spit on road on roadsides. The penalty fee paid by these people will a. Make them understand that govt. is serious about cleanliness b. make them think twice before peeing or spitting in public.
CCTVs installed on roadsides for finding out people who violate traffic rules can be reused for point #2 though taking a photo as a proof may sound gross.
We all know that cattle is seen as divine creatures over here but it is annoying to see them standing adamantly on roads even though 20 cars are honking their horns.
It is sad to see that cab drivers stop 100 metres away from e-Toilets installed in Bangalore and pee on the roadside just to save Rs 5 that will have to be given to the pay and use toilets otherwise. Had they been taught properly at school like what is mentioned in #1, they would have thought differently and not offended others traveling on the roads like this.

Green is for clean Mumbai as dark is for death. Save a planet, spare a tree, at last, it'll save you and me
