He did extensive exploration of western-Ghats of India for lichens mycobiota. His large collection of lichens is deposited in Ajrekar Mycological Herbarium (AMH), Agharkar Research Institute, Pune. His research on lichens played significant contribution for Indian lichenology and taxonomic research on microlichens.
