• Sulfur: A "non-metallic substance", very harmful to marine life. It reacts with oxygen to form oxides of sulfur in various forms.
• Oil forms a thick layer on the surface of the water due to its immiscible nature. It can stop the sunlight from entering into the water and marine plants unable to do the photosynthesis. It is harmful to aquatic animals.
