A Grain of Wheat' is a historical novel by Kenyan author, Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o . The title of the book has been taken from the Gospel According to St. John, 12:24 which states that 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.'
