GIVEN:-

  • Compare the following fraction- 4/3 and 4*5/3

SOLUTION:-

First of all change the mixed fraction to improper fraction.

For that multiply the whole part with the denominator and then add the numerator to the product.

  • \implies4*5/3=4×5+3/3

  • \implies20+3/3

  • \implies23/3

Now as the d enominators are already same we just need to see the numerators and as the numerator of 4*5/3 is greater.

The fraction 4*5/3 is greater than 4/3

4/3 is smaller than 4*5/3

EXPLANATION:-

  • Hey mate!Your questions is asking to compare among two fractions it can either be which is smaller or which is greater.

  • So if we see then the position of both fractions are different where one Id mixed and another improper.

  • Now we know that changing to mixed fraction won't be helpful in figuring out the comparison so we will change mixed to improper.

Now you must be thinking why improper why not proper!?

  • So this is because a mixed fraction is made up of a whole number and a proper fraction and it is made mixed from an improper fraction only.

  • Now after changing it to improper as the d enominators are already same we will compare between the numerators.

  • As 23 is greater than 3 so 4*5/3 is greater then 4/3 and as 3 is smaller 4/3 is smaller than 4*5/3.

hope it helped!

SOLUTION:-

First of all change the mixed fraction to improper fraction.

For that multiply the whole part with the denominator and then add the numerator to the product.

  • =>4*5/3=4×5+3/3
  • =>20+3/3
  • =>23/3

Now as the d enominators are already same we just need to see the numerators and as the numerator of 4*5/3 is greater.

The fraction 4*5/3 is greater than 4/3

4/3 is smaller than 4*5/3
