✴In a solid: the intermolecular force is so strong, No Atoms or molecules can move in sold.
it is very difficult to change the shape of solid due to strong intermolecular force.

✴ In a gas : The inter molecular force is weak and Atoms or molecules can freely move.

And, it's volume is not fixed.

intermolecular force of attraction between between the solid particles is strongest .in Gas intermolecular force of attraction between the particles is very weak. due to this solid are very rigid what gas is not rigid. I think this answer will be useful for you
