Similarities .. When the transfer of energy occurs because of the movement of matter. Like in a convection oven, the heat around the food warms it up. ... the heat transfers and its called conduction ;D Radiation occurs when the transfer of electromagnetic waves happens.

Conduction transfers energy without transfer of matter so the energy interchanges are from particle to particle as kinetic/potential energy cycles. Convection transfers energy with matter transfer so the exchange process is mostly kinetic.
