Rizal was on a secret mission and he was detecting about life, civilization and language communication. He was investing about industries and commercialism. For his mission he got approval from his older brother Paciano.
- Secret departure for Spain- Rizal was going to the Spain and his visit was totally avoided by the Spain government. Even his parent didn’t know that he was going to Spain because they know they would never let Rizal to go. In Spain he changed his name and used Jose Mercado. After that he departed on the board and took Spanish steamer to Singapore.
- Voyage to Singapore- During his journey on the steamer he observed the people very carefully. When steamer was approaching to Singapore he was a beautiful island. Finally he landed in Singapore and booked a hotel to stay for two days. He saw many beautiful places such as Botanical garden, Buddhist temple etc.
- Singapore to Colombo- From Singapore he took another ship to Colombo that left on the 11th May.
- Trip to Suez Canal- From Colombo he continued to travel and he crossed the Indian Ocean. Next stop was Aden where Rizal went for sightseeing. Next form Aden he went to Suez Canal where he took few days to visit that canal.
- Visit to Naples, Marseilles and Barcelona- Next he saw the place named Chateau in Marseilles and stayed for two days. Next he went to Barcelona by rail and finally reached his destination.
He wrote an article Amor Patrio which means love of country and sent his article to one of his friend named Manila who was a publisher of newspaper.
