Explanation:

Independence Day is considered one of the most significant days in the history of India as it reminds us of the bravery and sacrifices of our freedom fighters. Independence Day holds plenty of importance within the lives of individuals of India because it was the day when the country gained its freedom from the British who ruled the country for over two hundred years in 1947.

The Prime Minister of India hoists the Indian flag at the Red Fort, followed by an address to the nation and the entire country rejoices while they chant ‘Jai Hind’ and ‘Vande Matram. As said by our national leader, the first Prime Minister of free India, Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru, “At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom” India also celebrates the freedom of thought, speech, action, movement, and mandate on this day.

It is a gazetted holiday and people gather to pay their gratitude to the leaders and martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the struggle to attain freedom. Every year on Independence Day, India witnesses a huge celebration with tricolor flag hoisting, parades, and cultural functions across the country. With buildings illuminated by the tricolor, people pay homage to our leaders and great fighters who fought and gave up their lives for India’s freedom. Cultural events, flag-hoisting ceremonies, and parades are hosted in almost all schools, colleges, offices, societies, co-operatives, government institutions, etc. throughout the country. All major and important government buildings are illuminated with beautiful strings of lights, primarily tri-colored. The Indian flag could be seen drifting from almost every educational institution, government institution, office buildings, and some houses.
