Before 1871, Germany was scattered over different empires. The western part of Germany including Nüremburg, and south western part was occupied by Denmark. The alpine regions of Germany, Tyrol, Bohemia, Sudetenland , Schelswig and northern part of Germany was occupied by the Habsburg empire. Then the major cities like Ruhr, western part of Rhineland, Southern parts of Germany were occupied by France. Prussia was also seperated with Germany along uts major lines.
