Conservation of animals is necessary because it is important to maintain the ecological balance of life on earth.

  • Promotes pollination: Animals and Insects for eg: hummingbirds and bees are responsible for the pollination of flowering plants which in turn produces fruits that are essential for the reproduction of these plants and are also a very important source of food for herbivorous animals and humans.
  • Maintenence of the food chain: Animals depend on each other for food and this complex interdependence is known as the food chain and if the food chain is broken or disturbed, then it will have wide-ranging consequences for other animals and humans as well. For eg: If herbivores go extinct then it will lead to the extinction of carnivores as well.
  • The Economic and medicinal Reasons: Forests provide shelter to different types of animals and the presence of these animals in forests promotes local tourism in the surrounding areas. Animals also have medicinal value for eg: the venom from cobra is an important ingredient in making medications for leprosy.
