hey

As we know, theMain function of chloroplast is to capture the sunlight

Chloroplasts themselves align along the walls of mesophyll cells

when they are on surface, it can capture maximum quantity of incident light

That's why they are not present in deeper but on surface

delphic: Nice answer :)

hey!!

here is ur answer!!
=================================================

Chloroplast are the minute oval bodies bounded by a double membrane  ,and their interior  part contains closely packed flattened sacs know as thylakoids arranged in piles called grana lying in a colourless substance called Stroma.

There may be 40-50 chloroplast in a cell.

Chloroplast are mainly contained in mesophyll cells located between the upper epidermis and the lower epidermies that is both in the plaside and spongy cells of leaves.These are also found in the guard cells of stomata and in the outer layers of young green stems.

The chloroplast are concentrated in the upper layers of the leaf (mesophyll) to obtain light energy quickly ...

There may be more tthan 500,000 chloroplast per sq. mm. of leaf surface..

Hope this helps u!!!
